October's Lesson

Over the next several months while Rosemary has such a busy schedule, is on tour etc, Samantha will be collaborating with her on writing the lessons for the month. Rosemary is very much a part of the process, but not always able to sit at a computer and write. Since Samantha has grown up with the teachings of Rosemary, we hope you'll agree that she's the ideal candidate to collaborate with her mother in order to bring you a lesson every month.

It’s that time of year in many places where the leaves are falling off the trees, flowers are dying and things seem to be coming to an end. Looking down at the ground it’s beginning to look bare and barren and not very inviting, but it’s one of the most beautiful times of the year!

Autumn not only in nature, but also the autumn of our lives is something wonderful and to behold and cherished. As we get older our hair begins to thin a little, we start to slow down, wrinkles appear and life comes to an end. Or does it? Isn't life continuous? Come the spring the daffodils will be out, the leaves will be on the trees but the in between times, the winter, when it's cold and nothing seems to grow can be a lonely and depressing time for many people, which is why it's so important for us to remember that life is a continuous thing. For us to know that what was will be again and that what we seem to have lost will at some time in the future be found once more.

Loss is a terrible thing, old age can be a terrible thing, our winters, our times of depression, loneliness and heartache seem to last forever, but it's important to remember.not to cry for what you have lost! Instead, try to rejoice for what you have had and smile in the knowledge that it will come again in one form or another. You will be reunited with a loved one whether here on earth, (perhaps through some sign or message), or in the next life. Flowers will begin to bloom again and we all learn from the darkness of winter.

Some of the things that seem catastrophic for us will bring us either knowledge or new opportunities that we didn't realize existed. For instance the loss of a job might create the space in our live to try something new and different that we truly enjoy. When loosing your youth your skin may sag, you may loose the elasticity in your skin and you hair may begin to thin, etc. But you gain wisdom and experience.

So this Month's suggested exercise it to:
Take a look at all the things you see around you that seem to be dying or coming to an end, but that you know will come again sometime somehow.

Here's a list to get you going:
Leaves falling off the trees
Daffodils fading away
Loved ones who have died will come again to us brining us messages of love through someone like Rosemary, or as signs that you recognize by yourself.
Lost love
Lost friendships
The loss of a home
Loss of a job
A summer garden Spring rain
Our youth

We should always try to remember that as Rosemary will tell us, when God takes something from us, he always gives us something in return. We may not want it or appreciate it until later, and we may have preferred to keep what we had but we can always grow from the greatest of our tragedies and losses.

Talk with community members about your thoughts on this month's lesson, or write us an account of your progress. We'd love to post it in our spotlight section for everyone to read.
Good luck and be ready for next month's lesson...
